
Hanna-Maija Pääkkönen
artistic director, choreographer
Textual Motion Company’s founder and artistic director Hanna-Maija is a dance artist, pedagog, entrepreneur and Doctor of Philosophy. She describes herself as an endlessly curious thinker and doer, whose passion is to explore the interfaces of art, science and societies.
She has a wide ranged technical background, combined with a strong caribbean street dance and afrocuban knowledge, that allows her profound yet flexible exploration of movement.
In 2021 Hanna-Maija will celebrate her 20th artist’s anniversary year. Born in Finland, raised in Finland and Nicaragua, she has performed, taught and choreographed both in Europe as in Latin America.
She is known especially for her capacity for out-of-the-box creation and thinking. Having a PhD from Cultural Studies, her work often combines artistic approaches and ongoing social discussions.

Alejandro Flores Monroy
assiting director, choreographer
Alejandro Flores Monroy is a multidisciplinary dancer and choreographer. He is especially interested in combining classical technique and urban styles which is reflected in his work throughout his career.
He begun his training as a professional in his native town Mexico City. After a successful career as a dancer and teacher in Mexico he continued his training in the United States, where he has work as professional both in Miami and Los Angeles.
Alejadro is currently settled in Finland, and works around Europe as a choreographer, performer and teacher.
